I'm a Principal Product & UX Designer with over 20 years of experience designing complex, data-intensive systems across finance, asset management, banking, and large-scale enterprise platforms.
I began my career as a web designer and front-end developer at Europe's first online newspaper, later working at consultancies such as Sapient on e-commerce, travel, and early financial trading applications.
My background in Business Computing Systems (covering Human-Computer Interaction, systems design, software engineering, applied AI, business process re-engineering and requirements engineering) made the transition into UX and product design intuitive, no longer just focusing on visual designs and pixel-pushing within screens but to designing whole systems — transforming and simplifying complex systems that work for people and organisations.
Over the past two decades, I've led design work at organisations including UBS Investment Bank, HSBC Global Banking & Markets, Lloyds Banking Group, Thomson Reuters, Refinitiv, London Stock Exchange Group, Pitney Bowes, and Insight Investment, focusing on trading platforms, financial analytics, mission-critical decision-support and execution workflows.
Currently at Insight Investment (BNY), I lead UX across various areas including trading and investment solutions, with some systems already employing AI-driven analysis, recommendations and decision-support capabilities.
I complement industry experience with formal study in Human-Computer Interaction and AI Systems Design at the University of Cambridge, with a focus on interpretability, automation risk, governance, and human factors. I bring a systems-level, principled approach to designing AI products that operate responsibly at scale.
Loved star-gazing when I was young, armed with my refractor telescope and star maps. Studied GCSE-level Astronomy.
Occasional day-trading and longer-term investing. Currently unable to day-trade due to employment contract restrictions.
Achieved 2,500% gains between Dec-2020 and May-2021, actively managing portfolio to out-perform Bitcoin itself, which only went up 292%.
Day-hikes in the English Countryside or the occasional weekend away in Snowdonia.
Mainly travel, landscapes and wildlife. Maybe some street, but weddings are an absolute no-no.
I keep an eye on the London property market for any potential investment or down-sizing opportunities.
Regular reading of websites and blogs to keep up-to-date with the latest technology advancements.

Slowly exploring the world, a country at a time. Love experiencing different cultures.
Currently fascinated by the theory that the Lost City of Atlantis may be the Richat Structure ("Eye of Africa") in Mauritania.
I prefer to visit countries with a rich history, distinct culture, and where the primary spoken language isn't English.
